They were young straight of limb true of eye, steady and aglow,

Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.

At the going down of the sun and in the morning,

We will remember them.”

Reading of Poem “In Flanders’ Field”

Read By David Buckley

In Flanders’ Field

In Flanders’ Field, the poppies blow

Between the crosses, row on row

That mark our place; and in the sky

The Larks, still bravely singing, fly

Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the dead. Short days ago

We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow

Loved and were loved, and now we lie

In Flanders’ Fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe;

To you from failing hands we throw

The Torch; be yours to hold it high,

If ye break faith with us who die

We shall not sleep, though poppies grow

In Flanders’ Fields.

Advance Australia Fair

By John McCrae.

The ceremony ends with the playing of the National Anthem.

“Australians all let us rejoice, for we are young and free;

We’ve golden soil and wealth for toil,

Our land is girt by sea.

Our land abound in nature’s gifts

Of beauty rich and rare,

In history’s page let every stage

Advance Australia Fair.

In joyful strains then let us sing,

Advance Australia Fair.”

Service is concluded by the President.

All attending are thanked for paying their respects with us today and welcomed to Yandina Hotel for a drink A complimentary drink is available for those veterans wearing medals and our volunteers.
